Keep your online accounts safe
NEVER give out your online banking credentials (username, password, 2FA code) to anyone, even if they say they are from Northern State Bank, from our 'fraud department', or from a government agency.
We will NEVER ask you to enter your online banking credentials in a link provided in a text message or email.
You CANNOT cancel a debit card transaction by logging into your online banking. Be wary of phishing scams (texts and emails) asking you to login to cancel a transaction.
If your online banking has been compromised
If you feel that someone else has gained access to your NSB accounts through your online banking, call us immediately at 715-682-2772.

- When using our mobile app:
- Click on tri-bar (3 horizontal lines) in upper left of your screen. Click on arrow by your name in lower left. Click on -Settings (gear icon), then -Security (padlock icon).
- When logged in through our website/using a web browser:

- Recently used devices - Delete any new devices that you do not recognize (trash can icon) . Accidentally deleting your own device will NOT lock you out of your online banking.
- If someone else enrolled you in Zelle (peer-to-peer instant transfer available in your online banking) take these steps to un-enroll and delete any Zelle recipients:
-
- Mobile App: click on tri-bars (3 horizontal lines)
- Send money with Zelle
- Gear Icon
- Manage payment profiles
- Click on the phone number or email
- In red: DELETE AND UNENROLL THIS TOKEN FROM ZELLE
- For more information, go to our Zelle page
Protect your accounts on a daily basis - Be pro-active, not re-active!
Never give out your password or 2FA code to anyone. We will NEVER ask you for this information, and neither will our debit card fraud center.
Make sure your contact information is up-to-date so debit card fraud alerts, account alerts, and Northern State Bank staff can reach you if we notice something suspicious.
Familiarize yourself with all the features of your online banking, including:
- Where to find your Security Settings
- How to change your password
- How to set up alerts based on scenarios that fit your personal needs (large item notices, low balance notice, etc.)
If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.
Be very wary of unsolicited emails, texts, and phone calls that ask you to log in to your online banking or send money.
Trust your instincts. If something feels 'off', stop and investigate through trusted sources before proceeding.
